The Active Atlanta Podcast
Ep111 | Sidney Wilson
In this episode of the podcast, host Doc Jake sits down with guest Sidney Wilson to dive into her inspiring journey with CrossFit and bodybuilding. Sydney, who previously played softball but struggled with low confidence, found a new lease on life when she discovered CrossFit in 2015. The supportive community helped boost her self-esteem, and she has since become a CrossFit coach at Move Functional Fitness in Atlanta for over 2 years.
During the conversation, Sidney opens up about how CrossFit transformed her perception of the ideal body image. Instead of striving to be skinny, she now aspires to be strong, thanks to the influence of remarkable female CrossFit athletes like Kara Saunders and Miranda Oldroyd. CrossFit not only reshaped her physical goals but also helped her regain confidence after leaving softball behind.
Currently, Sidney is on a mission to qualify for the CrossFit Games semi-finals and is simultaneously preparing for her first bodybuilding show in June, with the ultimate goal of turning pro. While she works with a coach for her bodybuilding preparation, Sidney prefers an intuitive training style for other aspects of her fitness routine. Balancing both CrossFit and bodybuilding training allows her to leverage her strengths and address her weaknesses in both disciplines.
Throughout the discussion, Sidney's unique experience navigating the CrossFit and bodybuilding worlds shines through, shaping her coaching philosophy centered on sustainability and individual needs. She encourages listeners interested in her coaching approach to reach out to her through her website or Instagram for further guidance.
