Painful: ACC Nation Podcast
Jim Quist and Will Ojanen @ACCTheQ @WillsWorldMN -
There have been few things as painful in college football as the ACC's Coastal Division. Well, okay, there have been injuries. But as some may argue, at least you're more likely to recover from those than suffering through this forgettable season. It's unfortunate that you can't unsee what has been seen. Undoubtedly, this year will be talked about in hushed whispers and never in polite company in the future. Sure, this opening has become a bit ridiculous but we use it to point out just how far this conference has fallen. As if you needed reminding.
Many will argue that it hasn't gone off a cliff, that there are bright spots. We're all good with celebrating forward progress when it occurs, it's just that it's far too infrequent. Then to add insult to injury, well, there's the constant muddying and mayhem that obliterates the hopes of fans.
One can certainly argue, and believe us it has been, that when it comes to football, the ACC is spelled mediocrity. If you're tired of the accusations that the ACC is a cupcake conference then perhaps you should do something about it. When even the most promising teams outside of Clemson can't even fill their stadiums you should recognize there is a problem.
Painful
In this week's episode of ACC Nation Podcast Jim and Will suffer through a review of this past weekend's games. It wasn't just within the conference that things went haywire. Notre Dame fans were served up a painful reminder of how the team isn't infallible.
In the bigger picture, the Top 25 upsets served up former No. 5 Oklahoma and the guys disagree on whether that's it for a New Years Eve 6 bowl invite. Also on the platter, a host of unranked teams took a chainsaw to Texas, Iowa State and Arizona State.

Since things are too exciting at the moment in the ACC our eyes stray to a big shoot out in the SEC. LSU has an opportunity to knock off Alabama to win the conference, take a No. 1 spot in the polls and possibly, be the team to beat when all is said and done.
Up first though, a look at ACC news and who's leading the way in individual sports. Find out who's on top in swimming and diving, ice hockey, soccer, field hockey, cross country and volleyball.
