On December 1, 2025, WORT celebrated its 50th birthday.  We now turn from looking at WORT’s distant past to WORT’s present and future.   During our last fundraising drive, we told listeners how the Trump Administration had clawed back a $113,000 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting that had already been awarded to WORT.  Later, we were able to deliver the news that contributions from listener-sponsors have largely plugged that hole.  After the fundraising drive was over, station volunteers learned that, due to worsening financial conditions of the station, two senior WORT staff, Music Director Sybil Augustine and Business and Events Development Director Doug Holtz had been let go.   The news came as a shock to many, and raised questions about the station’s financial health, overall management and what’s in store for the future.  Grant Foster, listener-sponsor member of the WORT Board of Directors, former WORT Treasurer, and since November 19, President of the WORT Board of Directors, joined the Monday Buzz on December 1, 2025.
