“Patient” Looks at World of Simulated Patients

July 07, 2025

WORT 89.9FM Madison · “Patient” Looks at World of Simulated Patients

If you’re a doctor working on your bedside manner or diagnostic skills, you need practice working with patients.  Yet, most people with serious illnesses or injuries aren’t all that willing to let students use them as educational guinea pigs.  Enter the “Standardized Patient,” actors who portray ill or injured people specifically for the purpose of training medical professionals.  Lori Felker’s new film “Patient” takes a look at the practice of Standardized or Simulated Patients and the people who portray them.  “Patient” screens at Madison’s Arts and Literature Laboratory on July 15th. Lori Felker joined Monday Buzz host Brian Standing on July 7, 2025.
