What Is Left To Bomb?

March 13, 2025

Jennifer Loewenstein, Middle East expert and commentator, joins host Tony Castañeda on the Thursday edition of the 8 O’Clock Buzz to talk about the recent illegal detainment of Mahmoud Kahlil, as well as the mediated negotiations between Israel and Hamas currently underway in Doha.

Kahlil, a permanent legal resident of the United States, was among those who lead protests at Columbia University in support of Palestinians in Gaza and against US support for Israel. HIs arrest last week by ICE agents marks the first deportation effort related to pro-Palestine activism under President Donald Trump.

Despite the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel that has held since late January, Palestinians continue to be killed by Israeli soldiers. Israel has also been blocking the supply of food, electricity, medicine and fuel supplies to Gaza as a pressure tactic in ceasefire negotiations with Hamas.

Amidst what could be perceived as hopeful peace talks, the U.S. State Department recently approved the potential sale of nearly $3 billion worth of bombs, demolition kits and other weaponry to Israel.

Peace.
