Chronic Disease and Prevention
September 3, 2015: Chronic diseases are widespread in this country, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that almost half of adults have at least one chronic health condition, and a quarter of adults have two or more.
Chronic diseases are also often deadly – responsible for seven of the top 10 causes of death in the U.S., and expensive – accounting for 86% of our nation’s total health care costs.
The good news is chronic diseases are largely preventable.
In today’s episode of Move Forward Radio, a physical therapist talks about chronic disease prevention, both in terms of a physical therapist’s role in preventing chronic disease, and in terms of our own role taking responsibility for our long-term health.
