Traffic Stop with TAT
Truckers vs Human Trafficking: How TA and TAT Are Saving Lives | Traffic Stop with TAT | Road Gang Radio
In this powerful edition of Traffic Stop with TAT, host Jimmy Mac welcomes Louie Greek, Training Specialist with Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), and Kim Longstreet, Manager of the TA Travel Center in Commerce City, Colorado, to highlight how the trucking industry is helping fight human trafficking across America.
Louie opens the conversation by explaining TAT’s mission and their recent National Truck Driver Appreciation Week outreach. Partnering with TravelCenters of America, Sapp Bros., Love’s, and Pilot Company, TAT hosted events at 13 truck stop locations nationwide—personally thanking over 500 professional drivers for their critical role in recognizing and reporting signs of trafficking.
Kim shares an on-the-ground perspective from the Commerce City TA, discussing how truck stop employees can be the first line of defense. She explains the warning signs to look for—such as individuals who don’t know their location, lack identification, or appear to be under someone else’s control—and how compassion and awareness can truly save lives.
Together, they explore how drivers and travel centers are uniting to stop this crime, from posting hotline signage and completing TAT training to honoring heroes like Charles Bernsen, the Petro Florence, SC General Manager and past Harriet Tubman Award winner.
Listeners will also learn where to access resources and training—including the Truckers Against Trafficking app and tatnonprofit.org—to help make a difference on the road.
Together, we can keep our highways safe and end human trafficking.
