On this special edition of Nemo Nation, hosts Jimmy Mac and Dave Nemo celebrate the finalists of the Transition Trucking Driving for Excellence Awards—veterans making their mark on the trucking industry.

With support from Kenworth, Fastport, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes Program, the award recognizes and empowers military veterans who bring discipline, leadership, and dedication from their service into professional trucking careers. This year marks the 10th annual award, highlighted by a Kenworth T680 Truck, valued at $155,000, donated as a symbol of recognition for these heroes.

Meet the finalists:

First, Charles Jones Jr., U.S. Army (E-7), Roehl Transport

Over 20 years of service, including three combat deployments to Iraq and two rotations to South Korea

Roles included unmanned aircraft systems operator, instructor operator, standards operator, and platoon sergeant

Began his professional driving career with Roehl Transport in early 2025 after graduating from Georgia Driving Academy

Up next, Macy Mattice, U.S. Army (E-4), Melton Truck Lines

Army veteran (2010–2018), specializing in heavy equipment transportation (88M)

Flatbed driver for Melton Truck Lines

Lives near Jacksonville, Florida, and balances trucking with raising her 12-year-old son, Rusty

Finally, Mark Scriven, U.S. Army (E-6), Stevens Transport

Nine years of service as a Patriot Missile Operator/Maintainer, earning multiple Army Achievement Medals and recognition as a Combat Lifesaver

Now a professional truck driver and trainer with Stevens Transport

Father of three, recently welcomed a daughter in late August
