On this day, when an estimated over 100,000 people have congregated in Glendale, Arizona to celebrate the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk, Van Jones, a prominent CNN host, bestselling author, political analyst and outspoken opponent of Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA, reluctantly, but decidedly shared a heartfelt message about the truth of Charlie Kirk and his unending desire to facilitate and amplify discussions, to share all points of view, and to empower all to make their decisions based on open discussion.

Kudos to Jones for having the courage and conviction to share this, even though he had and still has strong opposition to many of the positions Charlie and his followers hold. This is what Charlie wanted. Today, as millions around the world watch Charlie’s memorial service, Van’s message is just as important as that from everyone who will speak at the memorial, because Charlie’s mission was to reach those who were critical of his message to encourage open discussion and debate.
