Navigating Pediatric Suicidality for Professionals and Parents

To help parents and professionals navigate this heavy topic, these two leaders in mental health talk about the how to identify true suicidality vs suicidal threats or intrusive thought ideation; the protocol that mental health professionals must follow when a patient is threatening or thinking about self-harm; and much more invaluable information for parents and other professionals.


Dr. Rosie Gellman, MD, has the unique background of wearing many hats, being a Pediatrician, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, and Adult Psychiatrist. She completed her undergraduate education at Duke University, her Pediatrics Residency at Baylor College of Medicine at Children's Hospital of San Antonio in Texas, and Child and Adult Psychiatry training at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, where she also served as Chief Fellow. She has produced multiple local and national publications in Pediatrics and Psychiatry, is involved in local and national organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and she has received accolades for her community, educational, and research endeavors. She also devotes time to educating fellow community providers about addressing mental health concerns in their clinics. She currently practices child psychiatry in her private practice, Psych for Tykes and Teens, LLC in Louisville, CO. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, reading, and outdoor adventures with her husband, three wild kids, and two precious golden doodles.
