Some of our prisons are so comfortable that inmates will commit a crime just to get back into jail where they are assured of food, clothing, housing, and even recreation. The cost to the taxpayers (as of several years ago) is $70,000 annually. Inmates rarely pay back this debt, so really never pay their debt to society. Dan is okay with an inmate regaining his right to vote IF (and AFTER) he truly repays his debt to society.
