I've always known I would never win Miss Congeniality at work, but today's disciplinary meeting about my "attitude" was unexpected. One of the new hot shot lawyers complained about me, that I don't smile enough, that I'm not friendly with the clients. But I'm damn good at my job, so why does that matter? When I show up for our scheduled research time and I'm clearly upset, you are really nice about it, which I didn't expect. We're colleagues, not friends. I may not be the easiest person to get along with, but I do have feelings, and today they're a lot closer to the surface than I'm comfortable with.
