Now in its 50th year, the multifaceted Artpark is a breathtaking expanse that melds artistic celebration with environmental appreciation, just off the edge of Niagara Gorge in Lewiston. With its Amphitheater and associated concert series—running from May through September—concertgoers have come to expect an amalgamation of instrumental artistry and environmental majesty, with both elements playing off one another with an impressive proficiency. But as live performance has gone from a mere element of artists’ overall arsenal to a chief component of their occupation, the strength of each individual show—and where it’s played—has earned increased importance. The more special the location, the more inspired performers can be. Now, after years of memorable shows amplified from its various staging areas, Artpark has become one of these distinctive, internationally celebrated destinations.
