26. A Death at Calumet Farms

The story I have for you today is about a famous horse. A Thoroughbred named Alydar. It‘s also a story of murder, of a killing. But not in the traditional sense. As with many crimes, it concerns money and greed. It’s also a story of lies and financial pressure. Was the death an accident? Or was it intentional? In episode 26. A Death at Calumet Farms, I speak with Fred Kray.

Fred KrayFred M. Kray is a former trial lawyer specializing in animal law and won the American Bar Association’s Excellence in the Advancement of Animal Law Award in 2016. He has lectured on the subject and coauthored an article for American Jurisprudence Proof of Facts. His love for Alydar started when he watched the horse run in the 1978 Flamingo Stakes. He spent four years investigating Alydar’s death. Kray lives in Gainesville, Florida, with his wife and six dogs.
