Family vacation time

It’s time to start making plans for summer vacation 2024. Where should you go? What’s trending? Where will I find the most fun for my family and me? A recent survey conducted by Allianz Travel Partners has several great destinations for beach fun or big-city excitement.  

It’s a bucket list of places we’ve been wanting to visit. In a recent survey, Allianz Partners found that 34% of Americans plan to travel to Europe for their summer vacations; the travel insurance and assistance provider identified the top domestic and international summer travel destinations. Two of our long-time favorites are at the top of the list, taking the #1 slot.  Orlando and Cancun have been fan –favorites for a long time, and they continue to make vacations all about the sun, sand, fun, and excitement. It’s no surprise they are holding the top spots. Overall, domestic travel is up 5%, showing that US travelers are ready to visit sites around the country.  There are many choices for one or two destinations to add to your summer vacation 2024 list.

Allianz Partners found, “ While radiant Orlando’s #1 ranking stays intact, major metropolitan cities are stepping into the ring with Seattle (#2) claiming second place for the third year in a row. Other stateside city favorites include Boston (#3), New York (#4), Las Vegas (#6) and Los Angeles (#7). Americans also want to hang ten with visits to Honolulu (#5) and Kahului (#9). Rounding out the Top 10 domestic roster, Denver (#10) was once again reinstated after being knocked out by Miami in 2023.

Summer vacations 2024 will see International travel up 15%. Paris is back on the radar as an international destination after holding 9th place on the top ten list back in 2018. Most of the top ten international spots are destinations in the Caribbean. Does this mean we are ready to put our toes in the water and relax by the crystal clear turquoise waters? The survey says yes.

Mexico comes in at number one and two on the list. Cancun continues to rank at the top of the list, along with Cabo, a favorite for those looking for not just spring break fun but adventures around the island on land and in the water. 

A personal favorite on the list is London. It has always been a city I have found filled with history, art, culture, and many activities that get you out and about the city. Plus, there are no language barriers that some travelers might find in other European destinations.

Allianz Partners, the travel insurance and assistance company, analyzed more than six million flight itineraries* for trips between five and eight days in length for travel booked between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day.
