Where To Go For Black History Month

It’s a great time to venture out and explore history.  Those little known facts or learning more about the people and places you already know. Black History Month can take you around the U.S.A. with stories and historic events that share the contributions of African Americans throughout the years.  Exploring the rich history of African Americans around the U.S. shows their vital part in American history.

During the show you’ll hear trivia about other countries celebrating Black History Month. It’s not just an American thing, recognizing those who made a difference in shaping their country should not only be known, but celebrated as well.

We take you to Old 96 District in South Carolina to hear all about Dr. Benjamin Mays.  His life story from sharecropper’s son to President of Morehouse college is an inspiration for both young and old. His story shows how commitment, dedication and persistence shapes your career and your life.

Take a look inside Benjamin E. Mays childhood home and the historic site where you’ll find artifacts from his childhood, photos and documents from his time as President of Morehouse and mentor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Here are a few photos of what you’ll find when you visit Benjamin E. Mays Birthplace.
