Do Not Be Still My Beating Heart with Dr. Haley Hughston (Ep. 6)

February 22, 2024

February is Heart Month, so there’s no better time to have Dr. Haley Hughston, a board-certified cardiologist on the show to discuss a topic that’s all too important but not talked about enough – coronary artery disease in women.

Heart disease is the number one villain when it comes to women’s health!

Dr. Hughston shares the unique symptoms women may experience and specific risk factors, including those related to pregnancy and mental health. While she’s at it, Dr. Hughston also addresses misconceptions about statins and the importance of cardiovascular screening, especially for women with diabetes or pregnancy-related conditions. Their conversation emphasizes the need for awareness and informed health decisions regarding women’s heart health.

The doctors also bring you their first Sports Hype Segment – news that will get your pulse racing as they explore sudden cardiac arrest in athletes.

Dr. Gray, Dr. Sorrell, and Dr. Hughston discuss:

  • The importance of discussing heart disease in women
  • Different types of heart disease
  • Risk factors for coronary artery disease in women
  • Statins’ undeserved bad rep
  • And more
