Happened While Drunk

January 19, 2020

1 Peter 5:8 AMP

“Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour”.

This passage does not say that you can not drink. People mistakenly use this verse to say that drinking is evil. It does not say that at all. Sober means to be mentally aware, mentally awake. You can have a drink or two if you choose too, but more importantly it indicates that we must all know our own limitations.

The verse tells us not to be drunk. When you are drunk it is impossible for you to be alert, you can’t be cautious. You are not in control of your faculties. You are unaware of the tricks and traps ready to spring on you. When you are not sober in your thinking you are suspectable to Satan’s tricks.
If no one ever told you God has a plan for your life, so does evil.

When you are not sober in your thinking that you do stupid things that cause you pain later. You are more likely to try and do things that normally you wouldn’t do. You go out with your girls and you have 4 more drinks then everyone else, so now you are lossy goosey, out on the dance floor when this guy comes and starts paying you attention.

You have just met this guy and now here you are in the men’s room with this guy while he is doing his business all over you. You are out of your mind intoxicated and he calls his friends to come in and join him in the men’s room. They are disrespecting every part of you 10 guys all taking turns on you. But you don’t know what’s happening, you are drunk.

Two months later you are pregnant and HIV positive. Everybody is asking, “who is the father of the baby?” But you don’t know, cause you were drunk.

This is Tris No H reminding you that the words in the bible have a purpose and the purpose is to lead you to a blessed life. Be sober in your thinking please, Satan is seeking who he can devour, don’t let it be you. Peace

The passage suggests that you be self-disciplined meaning you know your limitations. You know when you are going to far in whatever the foolish folly.

The other side of the coin just because you don’t drink does not make you a better person. At least a drunk can say I did that stupid thing because I was drunk.

Peace
