The 2 Minute Word
Put the Shut with the Up
Jeremiah 29:11 NIRV
“I know the plans I have for you” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come”.
This is the word of the Lord thanks be to God.
When God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, they were happy. Finally, “the Lord has answered our prayers” they rejoiced. “He is taking us to the promised land”.
They thought that the end of slavery, was to be in the land of milk and honey. But leaving that place of bondage was not the promise. The promise was to live in a land of milk and honey. Leaving the old place of bondage is the beginning of a new journey. On every journey there are test that we must pass along the way, before we can arrive in the new place, the promise.
Now rather than being enslaved they walked around the desert, literally being tested and they failed time and time again. God provided everything they needed, and they still complained. We want food God sent manna. We want meat, God sent flocks of birds for meat. Never satisfied they were consistently whining. “We were better off being slaves”, they would whine. Consistent unbelief, fail the test again.
You see God could not allow unbelief in the promised land. Remember believing is the foundation of everything, so God kept them literally walking around in circles, until they could pass the test. Finally the only way they could pass was for the unbelievers to die off.
40 years later they were finally ready to go to the promised land, they trusted God and could pass the test.
So what should have only taken 11-days to walk, wound up being a 40 year journey. All the whining and complaining did was delay the promises of God.
This is Tris No H reminding you that God loves you and desires that we each live an abundant life. So, stop your belly aching, all that whining and complaining and pass the test, so He can deliver you into the promises for your life. Don’t let a 2-week trip turn into a 40-year detour for God’s promise in your life.
Peace
