The 2 Minute Word

The 2 Minute Word

Your Past is too Heavy

Exodus 12:36 NIRV
“ They did just as Moses had directed them. They asked the Egyptians for things made out of silver and gold…The Lord had caused the Egyptians to treat the Israelites in a kind way. So the Egyptians gave them what they asked for. The Israelites took many expensive things that belonged to the Egyptians”.

When God brought the nation of Israel of Egypt, they came out with the wealth of Egypt.
The wealth of Egypt was all this gold and silver. Thousands of golden idols platters, goblets, which is heavy as heck trying to walk in the sand for 40 years.

They brought all that stuff, material objects that they imagined they would need, thinking we gone need this in our new land. They literally were lugging around heavy material burdens from their past.

It is interesting to look at the map showing how close the promise land was for the children of Israel. No more than about a one month walk, but because they would not stop complaining, God took them the long way.

They complained for almost 40 years, mad because they had the burden of dragging around all that crap from the past, that God never told them that they would need. You can’t hold on to all that stuff from your past and go where God needs you to go.

The only purpose all that gold it had in the end was being melted down into a pagan idol that God quickly destroyed. They had carried around all of what was a part of their past. Slowing their roll, making the journey even harder.

This is Tris no H and if your journey to get to the place that God wants you to go seems a bit hard, if the roll is a bit slow, then maybe you need to stop trying to drag along your past.

Maybe that stuff you think you just must have is stopping you from getting to place God intends for you to go. Love is a verb. Love yourself enough to let go of the past, its just slowing down your promised future.

Peace
