In 2022 President Biden signed the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 into law. This law provides the Department of Commerce with $50 billion for a suite of programs. These programs are to strengthen and revitalize the U.S. position in chip manufacturing, semiconductor research, development, and manufacturing. In this episode of the GovFuture podcast we interview Ayodele Okeowo. He is Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for CHIPS at the U.S. Department of Commerce.



Ayodele shares details about what the CHIPS program is and why the program is important. He also shares how it supports the development and manufacturing of chips in the United States. Additionally, he shares insights into the timeline of the CHIPS program including key initiatives on the horizon. He also shares how the CHIPS program supports research and development initiatives in emerging technology areas such as AI and automation.
