LIVE! COVER1 Halftime Report - Texas High School Football Week 10
The predictions:
SAN ANGELO, TX – Week 10 of the Texas High School Football Season is here. With that District Championships and playoff spots are on the line.
Tonight the Cover1 Crew will be following four separate games:
SAN ANGELO CENTRAL @ ODESSA PERMIAN - It’s rivalry week in San Angelo as these Bobcats travel to Odessa to play Mojo. For anyone who’s from around here, we all know that there’s one game we can’t stand losing all year. That’s Odessa Permian. I feel like the Bobcats might play with a little bit of extra energy coming into this matchup just because of who it is, but it doesn’t change what the Bocbats have to do. Permian is a bit of a mixed bag this year in their win/loss record. They seem to play every opponent close and win and lose in equal measure. The Panthers beat Midland Legacy already this season but then turned around and lost to Odessa High. The Bobcats can take advantage of this, but they have to play an absolutely perfect game. Mojo is always good on defense so if the ‘Cats turn the ball over, then it’s over for them too.
WALL @ EARLY - In a game that will decide the eventual district champion, the Hawks take on an Early squad that has found its footing now that district play is here. Both teams enter tonight’s contest with a 3-0 mark in district play, and both teams want a district championship. With that being said, ever sense Wall fell to Mason a few weeks ago, the Hawks finally look like they did last year. They pound the ball, play mean on defense, and flat out run anyone in front of them over. They scored more than 60 points for the last three weeks in a row, while the defense hasn’t allowed more than 15 in that same span. It will be closer than previous weeks, but I have Wall in this one.
GRAPE CREEK @ BRADY - The Bulldogs have been playing much better football as of late after taking a 30-point beat down against Early a few weeks ago. The Bulldogs continue to find their identity on offense, but look good on defense. Grape Creek will play hard all game but will be outmatched by the Bulldogs in the end.
EDEN @ ROBERT LEE - This is a game with some huge playoff implications. This district had four teams that could make the playoffs but only two teams go at the 1A level. The Steers have the Sherwood Brothers who can absolutely do some damage to the Eden Bulldogs. But they'll have to take care of business tonight as they do not have a game next week. Also, Robert Lee will need to put everything else out of their minds and control what they can. The Bulldogs are 2-6, 0-2 on the season so far and can make it difficult on the Steers to break through to the postseason.
Also on the show, we catch up with head coach of the Irion County Hornet, Shawn Harrison. Then we tell you about this week's Carpet Tech Player of the Week.
Come back at halftime and after the game for COVER1 shows tonight.
