The Hidden Meaning Behind This Short Podcast Project

Two days ago I was getting coached and the true significance of this project came up.

This podcast project is really about my love of nature, tech, connection and life itself. I’m sharing the things I love in a fun, interesting, and simple way.

Making these recordings every day is a way for me to share my love with the world.

[0:15] I want to talk about birds, which I’ve done a lot lately for this project. 

[0:31] I’m not sure if you can hear that over the din of the lawnmower I hear, and of course the road sounds but, there is a uncommon bird out in the forest it’s called a pine warbler.

(It sounds like this sound but) with a much, higher pitch than that. So the pine warbler is just a…

Am I a birder?

I don’t even know that I’ve ever seen one, but thanks to the Merlin bird ID app I have heard it, before and it’s made me think about why I’m into birds. The truth is I’m really ,not that into birds. I mean, yeah, I like them, but what I really like is just the, vast richness of life.

[1:56]  I’m just curious, you know when there’s a bird that’s uncommon and I know that that sound is not one that I hear very often I find it interesting. And yeah, I do love birds. You know, though I wouldn’t call myself a birder. 

I don’t identify as a birder, but I love birds. So, bird lover, nature lover, just life lover, really.

What I’m learning about this through coaching.

A couple of days ago I was coaching with a friend. She was coaching me. We are swapping coaching with each other to get practice and to learn and just to get better, to learn about ourselves. I’m learning about myself. She’s learning about herself. We coach each other. 

I do this with lots of people, lots of us. You know, we’re coaching all over the place. 

[3:20] Because it’s fascinating, for one. You know, it’s amazing to sit down with somebody, every couple of weeks and hear what they’re working on and hear how it’s changed, hear what’s the same.  Just really interesting.

Life gets better when you pay attention.

And I was coaching with her the other day and she helped me realize that this podcast project, The Davo Show, what it’s really about, is just me loving life. And this pine warbler is a great indication of that. 

[4:07] You know, I recognized that it’s unusual. Why? Because I listen a lot and I, I noticed that’s different. 

And if you just pay attention to life, things get really interesting because you’ll start seeing things, that you didn’t see before. 

Curiosity, like Love is endless.

And it just becomes more fun, more challenging in a way, in a good way.  In a good way.

I’ve learned recently that curiosity is like love in that it’s endless, meaning there’s no limitation on it. It just keeps going and going and going and that’s interesting.

What’s that spit doing on these pine trees?

And as I’m standing out here talking to you, I’m noticing spit, balls of spit in the little white pine trees that are right in front of me. I mean, how random is that? Why would there be balls of spit in pine trees? 

Well, I’m pretty sure that’s the spittle bug. 

I hadn’t noticed it until today. I’m gonna try to walk out here. 

It’s a pretty dense part of the forest.  I’ll take a picture of this. Balls of spit. 

[5:36] Little bubble balls in these pine trees. It’s just another example.

Outer growth is inner growth.

If you pay attention, what you will see, what you will hear, what you will learn, how you’ll grow, and of course that goes for the inside of you as much as what’s outside of you, and it’s really, all the same thing.

So I’m gonna go look up this spittle bug now and see what that’s all about. I have no idea what a spittle bug looks like. I do know what, their reproductive system looks like. It looks like a ball of spit on a tree. This world is crazy. 

I’m grateful for all of this.
