Becoming: A New Year’s Resolution
Through nearly two years of the pandemic, we’re all hoping for an uprising in health and a decrease in the spread. With 2022 just around the corner, we’re all definitely feeling a collective hope for the future. Speaking of stops and starts, January’s the season of New Year’s resolutions—and abandoning them after three weeks of fervor. But instead of making a list of things we’re going to do—lose weight, eat better, save more, spend less—why don’t we utilize 2022 to envision who we want to be, how we’re going to get there, and recommit to that vision every single day?
In this episode, I discuss the process of “becoming” and differentiate it from the process of “doing.” I also explain why we fail our New Year’s resolutions and underscore the importance of taking everything one day at a time.
“Becoming is a process and not an event. So slow down each day; do some self-checking; notice who you are; and choose from that place. Choose to be in the new year, all year long, one day at a time.” - Karen Goldfinger Baker
