The inspiration behind Samay Health was founder Maria Artunduaga’s abuela, Sylvia. Maria witnessed her grandmother’s struggles to understand when her COPD was exacerbating. After she died, Maria decided to switch careers, so that no one else dies because of misdiagnosis.

Maria Artunduaga is a Colombian-born physician-scientist and inventor with 50+ prizes and publications. Her pragmatic approach to building a novel solution is based on both a passionate foundation and recognition that the current standard of care still sees half of discharged COPD patients die within 5 years.
