CONVERSATIONS WITH RON RICHARDSON- AUGUST 3, 2024

August 03, 2024

Conversations with Ron Richardson welcomes Jake Alfred potter to the show this afternoon Jake is a longtime friend of Ronald, and he dropped in to talk about living life with a disability. Jake was born with spina bifida and is also an amputee. Spina Bifida is a birth defect developing baby’s spinal cord fails to develop properly.

It occurs when a developing baby’s spinal cord fails to develop or close properly while in the womb.

Symptoms can sometimes be seen on the skin above the spinal defect. They include an abnormal tuft of hair, a birthmark, or protruding spinal cord tissue.

When treatment is necessary, it’s done through surgery to close the defect. Other treatments focus on managing complications. J will talk about overcoming different obstacles that he has faced since birth into adulthood, and he will also discuss his love for football, and how he became an assistant football coach for the St. Paul Minnesota pioneers!
