Ellie the little ewe had always been curious about the farmer and his wife's book. They would read it every night, and she could see that it was an important book to them. One day, as they sat outside enjoying the warm sun, Ellie decided to ask them about it.

"Excuse me, Farmer and Mrs. Farmer," Ellie said. "What is that book that you read every night?"

"This is the Bible, Ellie," the Farmer said. "It is a very important book to us. Would you like to read it with us?"

Ellie nodded her head eagerly, and the Farmer began to read the first chapter of the gospel of John. As he read, Ellie listened carefully, her little lamb ears perked up, and her little heart was touched by the words.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," the Farmer read.

Ellie was fascinated by the story, and she could see that the Farmer and his wife were moved by it as well. As they read on, Ellie's little heart swelled with emotion, and she felt closer to her friends than ever before.

When they finished reading, the Farmer and his wife smiled at Ellie, happy to see that she had enjoyed the story.

"I've never heard anything like that before," Ellie said. "It's beautiful. Can we read more?"

The Farmer and his wife were pleased to hear this, and they spent many evenings reading the Bible with Ellie. As they read, Ellie's understanding of the world and her place in it grew, and she knew that her life would never be the same.
