Here's the Deal: Fitness, Nutrition, & Mindset for People Who Don't Want Life to Suck
Hard Conversations about Alcohol and Food with Beth Wilkas Feraco
Beth Wilkas Feraco is an online Nutrition and Strength Coach, helping chronic yo-yo dieters break free from the all-or-nothing mindset. Beth is an ex-drinker, now 7 years sober. She’s a nutrition and fitness educator on social media, and has her own badass team of coaches, Brooke included. Beth is also our very good friend, and our guest today!
Alcohol is a tough subject. It brings up shit for a lot of people. But the truth is, a lot of people drink too much, to cope with pain and to avoid difficult emotions.
Today, Beth joins us to share her story, from being a “raving drunk” to healing and growing into the woman she is today. We talk about first steps in evaluating your relationship with alcohol, what to do if you want to quit drinking. We talk about our experiences giving up alcohol, mommy wine culture, how to analyze your relationships (and how that can inform your relationship with alcohol).
We also ask the question: does alcohol have a place in a healthy, balanced lifestyle?
We touch on sugar addiction, trigger foods, the differences between behavioral and physical addiction and habits. We also talk about how powerful our language is and how our words matter.
And more…
“You’ve got to change your behavior around food, and your thought process around food. Yes, there’s highly palatable food, etc… but there is something else other than the food itself that you need to focus on. Like learning how to cope with your emotions rather than with food.”
– Beth Wilkas Feraco
“People restrict, restrict… and then they binge, binge, binge. Allowing yourself something every day, you’re going to get to the point where it’s not going to have so much power over you.”
– Beth Wilkas Feraco
“I’m a way better parent now that I’m sober.”
- Beth Wilkas Feraco
