Upper Middlebrow
Episode 1: Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash, Part One
Released in 1992, Snow Crash is Neal Stephenson’s second (or third, depending on who you ask and what criteria you’re using) novel, but certainly his first breakaway hit. Snow Crash follows the exploits of Hiro Protagonist and his partner Y.T., as they try to save the world from the infocalypse, delving into the differences and similarities between viruses biological, spiritual, and informational. Pizza delivery, skateboarding, samurai swords, computer hacking, Ukrainian thrasher metal, and knives made of glass (and that’s only some of the first half of the book!).
