Sarah Majengo - Communication Culture Defined

June 23, 2022

Sarah Majengo is a strategic communications professional with over twenty years of experience in strategy, communications, public affairs, business development, and marketing. She has delivered successful outcomes for companies by addressing strategic operational and leadership challenges for major local and international brands, helping them navigate complex market and operating environment dynamics. Passionate about developing people, she is an advocate for work-life balance, noting its value for a thriving society. She is the founder of Fanisi Program, a learning and networking platform that equips middle managers with essential tools to elevate their careers and excel in their entrepreneurial pursuits. She is a member of the boards of New Forests Company and Capital Mining Services (CMS), as well as a graduate of the pioneer class of the CEO Apprenticeship program. She is also the sister of Santina Benson, a previous guest on the show.

Today, Sarah joins me to talk about communication, self-care, and the modern workplace. We talk about the implications of the fact that the workforce consists of three generations working side-by-side. She notes the power of authenticity and we discuss the need to focus on the individual, especially post-COVID. Sarah defines authenticity in the real world, listing its three main elements. We talk about the importance of emotional intelligence and the power of coaching. She distinguishes coaching from mentorship, and we discuss the power of collaboration, especially in our age-diverse workforce. Finally, Sarah underscores the importance of getting to know yourself.

“Do the work to know yourself, and the rest will unfold.”
