Wyoming’s Evan Svoboda discusses moving from QB to TE [LISTEN]
(Laramie, WY) – This time last year, Wyoming fans were preparing to see Evan Svoboda taking snaps under center. In 2025 the 6’5 251lb senior will move to tight end for the first time ever, making way for sophomore Kaden Anderson as the top quarterback on the depth chart.
“Everything’s new. It’s all foreign to me,” Evan told County 10. “From running routes, to blocking people, to hitting people every play. It’s all been different but it’s been a really fun journey and I’m looking forward to it.”
Evan said he didn’t expect to ever play tight end, but that it’s a good fit, “I’m naturally a big, physical person so it’s been a relatively good transition.”
Svoboda’s commitment to the program was admired by many Pokes fans. In an era where the transfer portal is used regularly, the Cowboy decided to keep playing for the brown and gold after losing his spot as QB1. “I think it’s been instilled in me from a young age, definitely from my parents and my environment. I was given an opportunity to be here so I’m going to make the most of my opportunity.”
