ZA03: Web Hosts, Kate Upton, Domains, and Site Builders

May 29, 2016

Intro
Today, Dave and Steve discuss horrible popup text and the Clear Cache Chrome Extension before Steve goes on a bit of a monologue explaining relationships between web hosts, domain names, and website builders.

Zero Authority Toolbox
Steve explains his crush on the Clear Cache Chrome extension which gives you a one-click way to clear out your browser’s short term memory.  No, you wouldn’t use this to hide your browsing habits (you would use incognito mode for that!)
Your browser takes a snapshot of your site’s styling and remembers it for quick recall later. This isn’t good when you’re changing that styling often during the website building process and you want to see how your changes look.
So you would use Clear Cache to clear out that memory and reload your page using the changes you just made.  Nifty!
Steve’s Peeves

Steve HATES the trend in popup text where site owners don’t give you the little “x” to close a popup but instead make you click insulting text.  So if you don’t want the  “Expert’s Guide to Buying Used Cars,” you don’t click the X.  You get to click text that says something like, “No thanks!  I like getting ripped off at the car lot!”
Total douche tactic and it needs to die a quick, but excruciating death.
Main Topic
Because he’s not smart enough to understand advanced concepts, Steve goes on a bit of a monologue explaining the extreme basics of website hosting, domains, and website builders, detailing what each really are and how they relate to one another.
Steve, who is writing about himself in the third person, is too lazy to recreate the monlogue in written form so here’s your link to the rough PDF he used as a guide for the main topic.
You’re welcome!
