Our dear Christo went to the US of A, in September. To make his business trip more bearable, he asked Chevrolet SA very nicely, and the kind folks there were able to arrange a mighty stallion for him to travel in.

Sadly, it wasn’t a new Corvette. Next time, maybe.

But it was a car that will grace South African shores in the first quarter of 2014. The car is the Chevrolet Sonic RS. That’s right, an RS version of the mid-sized hatchback from the American auto-maker.

This one is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo motor that’s also seen in certain other GM brands (read: Opel) but it’s got a few more powers and torques to earn that racy moniker.
