Actress Mary Birdsong: Women Who Don't Sit on Toilet Seats

November 27, 2016

Actress Mary Birdsong may be an award-winning theater actress (from her stint performing in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me) and have been in the Broadway production of Hairspray but she is perhaps best known for playing Deputy Cherisha Kimball on Reno 911 and for being a former Daily Show correspondent. Then there was her role opposite George Clooney in The Descendants and more TV parts than we could count (Ben and Kate, Raising Hope, Masters of Sex and Scream Queens, to name but a few). It is, perhaps, unsurprising that Birdsong came in with an intrinsically amusing issue. Who doesn't giggle at least a little when someone says they have an issue with girls who don't sit on toilet seats? But the chit chat about toilet seat covers and whether or not you can actually get an STD from a toilet seat and if the world is covered in a thin layer of feces quickly escalated into a conversation about wealth and class and what it was like to grow up in South Jersey where you marveled at the change your best friend's family kept in a jar. Give the episode and listen and you may never look at squatting above a toilet seat the same again.
