Janet: Hello and welcome, Janet Beckers here with your wonderful web TV tip of the week. Today, I've got a question from one of the members of our community, and it's all about launches. When you're launching a new product, all to do with how soon do you start promoting it, when do you start talking about it, what formats do you use. Let's have a look and see how we can simplify it for you.
Here's the question, it's from Marina Mchutchison, I hope I said it right, Marina. How far ahead do you start promoting a product for launch? Do you start laying seeds, you know, having a conversation about the product? You start having a conversation a few weeks ahead as well. If you do that, how far ahead, and what's the formats?
We've got two parts here. Number one is how long should you start promoting before you've got the launch of the product. It really depends, there's so many ways to be right when it comes to launching, but a really traditional way to do it is you may have, you might be doing a launch where you might be giving three sets of training, this is the classic Jeff Walker launch model, and it's a really beautiful one, it works well. In that case, you want each of those resources you're giving people to just be spaced a couple of days apart. You're just going to get their attention before they go, "Oh, another bright, shiny object!"
You don't have to spend too long, so that period of giving them great content may only be about ten days. It doesn't have to be a long time. Then, you can open up the cart, say, "Hey, I've been giving you all this information, you're really interested in this, how about you buy it now? You know what, I'm going to close it soon." During that time when it's available it may only be available for five days. Then, the deadlines up, and people can't get in, or can't get that special bonus, or that special price until the next time that you do it. In that case, you might have cart opened for say five days, and leading up to it might be about ten days. It's only over about a two-week period that whole launch thing happening.
Beforehand, of course, there's going to be communication with lots of different teams, people that are going to help you promote that are going to start months ahead. When it comes to starting to build up a bit of a demand for knowledge on this, I like to start sharing some different, either video clips, or some articles that can be going out, say, three weeks before you're starting the pure content of the launch. Just enough that you're going to get people really thinking about it, but not so much that they're going, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've been thinking about that for awhile, move on to something else. Oh, a squirrel!"
That's a good time period so you're not going constantly at it. For example you might be hearing from me about video in the next few weeks. Then, you're probably going to get some really awesome training that's for free to do with video. Today I might even seed talking about video. In fact, I won't today, we've run out of time. You'll probably see over the next few weeks I'll be sharing things that are going to help people to be able to take action and start using video in their business, so seeding the idea.
Now, here's another thought for you. You can actually start seeding the idea that's not the actual product itself, but one of the bonuses that you're going to throw in. For example, with a lot of my hiring training programs, I'm like, you're not even hiring ones that are not, that might be ranging from say, $250 up to $1000.
