AT ISSUE: 07/02/16 Prevent Blindness Discourages Use of Backyard Fireworks
Several organizations have teamed up to encourage Ohioans to celebrate the Fourth of July Holiday without backyard fireworks. Sherry Williams, President and C.E.O. of Prevent Blindness Ohio, said injuries from backyard fireworks are common this time of year, '70% of all injuries from fireworks tend to occur within a week of the July 4th Holiday.' Williams said when it comes to fireworks, the safest thing is to let the professionals handle the display and refrain from the backyard variety.
