Episode 76 Making a Quilt Sandwich

December 22, 2013

Episode 76, Making a Quilt Sandwich starts off with a life update from Allison – a surprising and unfortunately kinda crappy one… but life goes on. I have had opportunity lately to make a few quilt sandwiches… but I was curious about how others do it! I asked Kristyne to share her method and I’m wondering, how do YOU do it? We mentioned the Quilting Curved Basting Pins with the ‘thingyjingy’ that helps you close them, and a completely different method that uses spray basting . The ‘thingyjingy’ is actually named Kwik Klip – and it really a nifty tool. Or at least it will be once I use it.. We talk about that too! These are the Quilting Curved Basting Pins that Kristyne adores! There are a few brands of spray basting on the market – but the 505 Spray Basting is definitely my favorite! I have quilt sandwiches going back to 2010 all sprayed and ready to go that are STILL re-positional! I like that it is fast and if a bubble or pucker starts to form, I can still reposition, without having to remove and replace a bucket load of pins. I think it’s a personal choice – what do you choose? *** Kristyne spoke about her latest favorite purchase (or two)! She bought adorable Spoonflower fabric from Ellis and Higgs – we talked about how difficult it can be to judge ‘red’ online and that sometimes fabric just needs to be purchased but not necessarily needed…. She also had quite the Martha moment during the last week that involves bottle brush trees and Putz houses.. need I say more? As always, check out our Pinterest Board for more pictures! We hope you […]
