What’s the point of all the things going on in your life? In what ways will those activities create the end that you seek? Stay focused.

Elijah refused to allow the glamour of his spectacular displays on Mt. Carmel blind him to the reality that the fire from heaven changed nothing in the city.

Elijah deeply understood that locking up the rains, bringing fire down from heaven, and killing Baal's prophets were just means to a greater end.

Elijah didn’t just want to be admired and applauded for his supernatural feats. He wanted to create results that were real. He wanted to have results that were lasting. He wanted to go for tangible results

Jesus was strategic in his mission. There was a point to the cross. He didn’t just come down to the world to die for the sake of it. He had a mission.

When you ask the question, ‘what’s the point?’, you are asking the right question. And to achieve success, you have to ask the right questions.

Elijah’s expectation was that he would be celebrated by his people. He expected that there was going to be significant transformation in his nation, as a result of his spectacular display of power.

“What’s the point in all these supernatural manifestations in my life if I’m about to be killed by a woman."

And as I surveyed the horrifying level of poverty in that community in the light of this gross waste of human potential, it was easy to see the cause — not a curse, but the cause.
