It was named Zebulon M. Pike and it took 6 weeks to travel from Louisville Kentucky to St. Louis. St. Louis police officials did not start using fingerprinting to help identify criminals until representatives from Scotland Yard doing a presentation on the technique at the 1904 World Fair. Officials announced on July 31, 1904 that they would begin learning and using the technique. During the flood of 1993, the Mississippi River reached its peak level of 49.58 feet on August 1, 1993. This level was nearly 20 feet above what is typically considered flood stage.
