Using Revocable Trusts

August 05, 2020

This week Brent and Rachel are joined by Shawn Garner to talk about using revocable trusts in estate planning. We get into detail about how these important trusts work, and, specifically, how they solve for incapacity, asset management, and probate issues. We also exchange real life examples of ways these trusts are used for our clients and how they bring a tremendous amount of value.

Shawn is a partner in the Deason Garner & Hansen Law Firm in Yuma, Arizona. Prior to joining the firm he practiced in the area commercial litigation and bankruptcy law.

Shawn conducts monthly FREE Estate Planning Seminars to help “get the word out” about the problems and pitfalls in the Estate Planning area. He also writes a monthly Estate Planning column in The Yuma Sun.

He is a frequent speaker at public seminars covering the various aspects of Estate Planning and Long-Term Care benefits available through Medicaid.

Shawn was awarded his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky Law School in 2008.  He graduated in the top 1% of his class at Colorado State University when he earned his undergraduate degree with a double major in both Political Science and Criminal Justice.  He also holds an Associate’s degree from Arizona Western College.
