Doctor Dharambir Sanghera shares her latest research on the role genes play in diabetes. Recently it was discovered the so-called “Neanderthal gene†occurs in Hispanic populations, causing a much higher risk of diabetes. What about the gene pool for other racial groups? Are we prisoners of our genetic makeup or can we thrive in spite of genetic predispositions?Â
