U.S. stocks traded lower Wednesday after disappointing earnings from major technology bellwethers weighed on investor sentiment, including the world’s most valuable company, Apple Inc., and the world's largest computer software company, Microsoft Corporation. Five of the 10 Standard & Poor's 500 sectors traded lower, led by declines information technology.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 92.37 points, or 0.52 percent, to 17,826.92. The S&P 500 dipped 6.57 points, or 0.31 percent, to 2,112.73. The NASDAQ Composite Index lost 40.95 points, or 0.78 percent, to 5,167.36.

The Visual Marketplace Index took it on the chin today as well, suffering the single worst day since we’ve started the index tracking portfolio, it’s down 4.65%, to finish trading at 265.28, having shed nearly 13 (12.84) points.
