Virtual Pizza

Things are changing, and saying Thanks - VP011

November 01, 2013

In episode 11 we talk about changing things around on Virtual Pizza, discuss the latest entertainment news, celebrate the 75th anniversary of The War of the Worlds radio broadcast, recommend Ripper Street and say a huge thanks to Podcasters.

Getting regular guest contributions for Virtual Pizza has always been a challenging task. Our team have day jobs, families and often their own podcasts.  In an effort to produce more regular episodes of Virtual Pizza, I’m starting to look at changing the format of the show slightly.  Don’t worry, we’ll still have the guest articles as and when we have them, they’re a major part of what has made Virtual Pizza unique, but in the meantime I’ll be trying out some new stuff, including more of me!  Virtual Pizza will still be bringing you the best in digital entertainment, and highlighting gems that you may not have heard of before.
So over the next few weeks I’ll be trying out new segments and formats, and I’d really appreciate it if you’d let me know what you like, and what you don’t!  If you use the tab to the right of this page, you’ll be able to record a voicemail.  Leave your thoughts, or even a review, recommendation or commentary.  You can record up to 90 seconds and you could get yourself onto the show!

War of the Worlds
75 years ago this week in 1938, millions of Americans were sent into panic by news broadcasts reporting an alien invasion.  It was in fact Orson Welles’ production of HG Wells’ War of the Worlds.

The full broadcast can be found in the YouTube video below - so turn down the lights, snuggle up, and prepare yourself to be transported to the much more innocent time of 1938.

Ripper Street

Solving crime in the East End of London, 1890s style!

BBC drama Ripper Street made a welcome return to UK screens this week with the start of it’s second season, and the show, set in Whitechapel in Londons East End in 1889 is this week’s Virtual Pizza recommendation.

Final Thoughts – Saying Thanks
Dave Jackson from The School of Podcasting (schoolofpodcasting.com) tells us why it’s important to show gratitude to the podcasters who entertain us. I’ve already emailed the shows I listen to, why not take 10 minutes to say thanks to the shows that you listen to and tell them how much you appreciate their hard work?
Hope you enjoy this episode, remember, you can leave a voicemail by clicking the tab to the right of this page, leave a comment below or contact us on the Feedback page.  Thanks for all of the feedback so far, our Horror episode was hugely popular!
