Bushfires in Australia

Many of our listeners will be aware of the devastating fires currently (Jan 2020) occurring throughout a large area of Australia. Our thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives, the terrible damage that have been wrecked on the environment, and the loss of animal life. If you wish to help out we suggest donating to one of the major relief organisations such as the Australian Red Cross or the Salvation Army Australia. Vets Beyond Borders is a veterinary charity that is seeking donations which will go towards their AVERT (Australian Veterinary Emergency Response Team) Program, and is a good way to help out animals directly affected by the bushfires. For those of us used to dealing with reptiles, it is unfortunate that we are familiar with seeing pet reptiles brought to the clinic with burns. Why is this a relatively common condition in reptile practice? Mark and Brendan discuss the causes and provide an overview of treatment and prevention for reptile burns.

Main Topic: Burns in Reptiles

This week we talk about burns in pet reptiles. Why do they occur, signs and treatment basics are covered. The all important topic of prevention is also discussed.
