The Populate Debate: Human Overpopulation as a Vegan Issue

December 17, 2018

A sperm in the hand is worth 2 in the cervix?
In this family sized episode, stand in Beanz, David Roberts joins Kelaherb to talk about breeding.
With carnists always banging on about killing every 'overpopulated' non-human animal species, we feel it is time for a discussion about the most destructive species on earth... humans.
With the global population growing at a rate of 228,000 extra people a day, should we feel happy or sad when a non-vegan brings a new carnist into the world? Can a vegan, knowing what we know, bring a child into a world of suffering in good conscience?
Could the the earth benefit from us creating lots of little vegans? Or should we be aiming for castration of the nation?
We also chat about ways in which David is wrong, our hopes for cell based meat, the ups and downs of caring for chickens rescued from the meat industry, the latest Scoop from the Coop and yet another glorious prick of the week.
If you'd like to know more about caring for liberated large breed chickens check out Farm Sanctuary's resources here: https://www.farmsanctuary.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Animal-Care-Large-Breed-Chicken.pdf
