 The Population Drops

The Population Drops is a new Vancouver band with a garage punk style. With Matt on guitars, Ted on bass, Mary on vocals, Helen on drums this band creates an original, fun, energetic sound. The band music feeds from different sub genres of rock punk from different eras, you can hear from the Sonics to Ramones, to Sonic Youth to Le Tigre with a touch of new wave.
"Matt and Mary were doing their own thing just with a drum machine" tells Helen. "and we prerecorded some drums and bass as well It was like gold when we had a drummer and a bassist, a lot of the sounds changed as well but it sounds really good"  interjects Matt.
"Matt and Helen entered Shindig before Ted and me were in the band so I had to learn 10 songs in a month but it worked out and we made it to the semifinals, it was an amazing experience"  tells me Helen on an air interview on The Morning After show. That was a year a ago, since then and with an EP under their belts The Population Drops is gaining numerous fans around the city even charting on CiTR for a while currently sitting at #15.
