7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” — Jeremiah 29:7 (NIV)

We serve through the declaration of the Word. (the voice of Jesus)

2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, — Isaiah 49:2 (NIV)

17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. — Ephesians 6:17 (NIV)

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, …it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. — Hebrews 4:12 (NIV

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. — Romans 12:2 (NIV)

We serve by making Jesus visible. (The character and heart of Jesus)

3 He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor. — Isaiah 49:3 (NIV)

18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. — 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

We serve Yakima by being a light in our city. (The hands and feet of Jesus)

6 …“It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.— Isaiah 49:6 (NIV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. — Matthew 5:14–16 (NIV)

6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. — Matthew 24:6 (NIV)
