Travelogue Media
Chile, Ecuador, and State Repression
This episode features some of the media coverage of the popular uprisings in Chile and Ecuador, and the continuing resistance to neoliberalism in Latin America. Also mentioned are some historical markers: Revolution Day in Guatemala, October 20, 1954 (75 years), and the anti-WTO demnostrations in Seattle 1999 (20 years). Travelogue Media also takes a moment to remember the life of the slain folk singer Victor Jara, one of the first victims of General Agosto Pinchet's brutal military regime in Chile (1973-1990).
**UPDATE** Pablo Albufom, the author of one of the articles discussed in this episode, was recently featured in Jacobin's podcast to discuss the situation in Chile. Listen here: https://pca.st/ursg0xpp
