Dana Blouin is certainly not your typical looking MMA fighter. Nor is he your typical one trick poney MMA fighter. Since his first pro MMA fight 10 years ago, Dana has diversified his involvement in the sport while pursuing his PhD in Bangkok, Thailand.

 

Under the expert guidance of Oliver Coste, a prominent MMA official with key roles within the One Championship, Full Meta Dojo and MIMMA promotions, Dana has sharpened his skills as a referee over the past year.

Having paid his dues reffing amateur tournaments, Dana now oversees many bouts within prominent South East Asians organizations like Full Metal Dojo, MIMMA and Pattaya Boxing World.

 

Don’t call it a comeback, but Dana is also preparing to step back into the cage as a fighter. On May 9th at Full Meta Dojo 5, Dana will step into the main event slot of the night to throw down with the founder and CEO of the promotion, Jon Nutt himself.

 

Despite being buddies outside of the cage, both men have promised to express their friendship through the connection of 4 ounce gloves to their respective bearded chins. I’ve been reassured by both parties that hilarity and violence with ensue, and that win, lose or draw the bourbon will flow amply at the conclusion of the bout. Should be memorable, as all FMD events are.

Needless to say, Dana is a breath of fresh air in the world of mixed martial arts, with both a veteran and current perspective on the game that separates this conversation from every other one on the show.
