Tiger Muay Thai fighters Joe Ray and Emalo Urrutia

May 04, 2015

EP035 - We’re joined by Tiger Muay Thai / American Top Team fighter Joe Ray ahead of his next bout versus UFC veteran Paulo Thiago, and fellow TMT rep Emalo Urrutia.
Joe Ray doesn’t fight to win. He fights to make a statement. It just so happens that those statements have resulted in 9 knockouts and 4 submission wins in 17 pro MMA bouts.
Since making his debut in Strikeforce back in 2010, Joe Ray has continued to show fans and promoters why he’s destined for the big leagues. With an aggressive yet intelligent approach, Joe has scored stoppages in all his victories thanks to a slick, versatile arsenal of striking, grappling and jiujitsu.

As a muay thai instructor at UFC veteran Wilson Gouveia’s  Miramar branch of the famed American Top Team, Joe Ray has been immersed with top level instruction his whole career. Wether training out of American Top Team’s headquarters in Coconut Creek, Florida with a murderers row of UFC-caliber talent or at his home away from home at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand, Joe continues his quest to reach the top.
With an upcoming bout on June 27th versus UFC veteran Paulo Thiago in Chinese promotion Rebel FC, Joe Ray will take another big step towards achieving his objectives and proving the doubters wrong.

Joe’s longtime friend and training partner Emalo Urrutia also has his hands full. Next up for the 4-1 Tiger Muay Thai representative is a May 9th showdown in Taiwan for the PRO FC organization. And while at the time of this recording his opponent was still unknown, none of that matters. Coming off his first professional loss, Emalo is out for vindication and has simply stated that whoever he faces “is a deadmanâ€.

While his burgeoning MMA career is his number one priority, Emalo also functions as a BJJ coach for Juggernaut Fight Club in Singapore, giving him a true insiders perspective into the South East Asian MMA scene.
